Winter’s Day
By Paul Wilson

Gray clouds circle overhead
sun ushers in a new day
Leaves of orange and red set free
from trees where gray squirrels now play

Time rushes past as we rise
from soft warm bed we depart
As we open sleepy eyes
a new day about to start

Frost clinging to window’s pane
smoke rising from chimney’s vent
Dreams from yesterday now gone
dreams of today heaven sent

What this day brings…we know not
true love, riches, piece of mind
We look toward clouds of snow
not certain what we will find

Embers jump from fires flame
sweet smell of pecan and oak
Flakes float down as snow now falls
lungs breathe aromatic smoke

Winter wonderland outside
Our breath fogs up windows view
Drawing hearts in windows dew
Hearts shared with words I love you

I so enjoyed the toasty feel of your words.
I take it you know how to start a fire, and see beyond the burning embers....  I really loved the warmth in this!!

suetang... Thank you for taking time to read.

Linda...Thank you kind lady for such a sweet reply. Glad you liked it...Paul

BluesSerenade...Glad it made you feel all toasty. Thanks for reading. I have started a fire or two, I just have to watch that they don't get out of control. I might burn the house down...Paul
