~Cloudrise~

Morning clothed in soulful hazy drear
paint my stormy heart with sultry cheer
oh rain and thunder, lightning come to me
unchain the muse within me...set her free

I love your sound, your scent, your look, your feel
your deepening of senses brings me real
your dismal mantle blurs the sky with dark
streams of wet, I long for you to start

veil the sun with mists of pillared cloud
and yellow streaks with bursts of cracklings, loud
breathe the wind and race it through the trees
dance the darkness bright on feathered breeze

your rumbling cannons echo through the skies
exploding thunderous music of cloudrise
~

Lyra, having a drought there?  It's been raining for a week here and is supposed to rain for another week.  I walked over to the dock and discovered that my bilge pump wasn't working and my boat was only two inches from being sunk.

I loved your sonnet.  Absolutely lovely, dear lady.

Thanks so much, Chris...
I love the rain for some reason, and I've noticed that a lot of other poets do too...
but most of the normal people in this world like the bright sunny days....
It must be a poet thing...

Thanks so much, Nancy...
I wrote this last week, when it was pouring buckets here... now its back to being dry again... and so is my poor muse...
She seems to be more creative in the wet weather...

Thanks so much, Michael...
It has been either extremely dry or it pours buckets here... but at least we are getting some rain...which is better than getting none at all...
Now, a question for you...  You called this a sonnet,  but I think the rhyme scheme is wrong for a sonnet although it has the correct amount of lines...
Am I wrong?...  Please tell me

Yes the Saturday night midnight oil it is...
I had my bone scan yesterday and the results were rather inconclusive so I think they are going to send me for an MRI...
and I really want to go to the poet meet in Florida on the last weekend in Sept.  And I want to be able to walk... so they have to fix my leg and at the rate they are going, I will have to go there leaning on David which is the only way I can now walk...

I remember how Michigan smells in Cloudrise...
as I recall, it is a very special scent, one that draws the muse to ponder, then bend over her paper to write...

Madame - cloudrise in the sky here also. Right now it's raining, soft and gentle though, with the clouds kissing the mountain tops. The river flows slowly this morning, and one can look down the misty valley. Beautiful poem little chipmunk, inspiring...

Morning MunkSter!  Looking for a Munk-Report on your health.  *s*
It does seem unusual to look for rain, but i find myself drawn to t-storm's allure as well.
This is one of your better poems, as lines read seem as though they were meant for each other, and i was transfixed by the flow.

I love the rain
the gentle sun ...
but seeing this ...
'most of the normal people in this world like the bright sunny days'
I came undone ... !

There are no NORMAL people ...
and there really is a poet in all of us~
Some of them just haven't rained yet~

It is raining again here today... but only drizzling right now... and I am again feeling my muse coming out of hiding.  I have found it so interesting that the only people I know who love rainy and cloudy days are artists and poets...
I think you are right... it stirs the soul.
