twas years ago
yet
yesterday
in vivid memory’s array
a cup o’ jo
left to busyness’ say
my lips and tongue
held offensively at bay

to that end
my sip was met
with cool accord
yet thirstiness sent me on toward
the bottom of the cup
to quench my throat
and finding one who really
got my goat!

I felt a lump
upon the roof of my mouth
and with my tongue
I tried to rout it out
mooshing it forward
toward my lips
disregarding the coolness
of the drips

and what did I find
to my disgust
a mangled, horrid, drowned
blackened mush

it surely had had wings
at one time
before it ended up
a blackened slime

and to this day
when I find I’ve sipped
a cup of java with its coolness drips
that have not
received a sweetness of frost
I almost feel
my cookies I might toss

for flies who insist
on skinny-dips
within the confines
of my java grips
are insidious
I’m sure you’ve not one doubt
so how might one strive
to keep them out?

I think I may have to get up a collection of insectivorous prey, or something like that, me being the prey. You know something every kid between 5 and 11 would love! hehehehe

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Okay, that does it. I'm going to post one of my poems for children, "I HATE SPIDERS"!!!

You've started something VAS---and very well at that!

HaHaHa..... I loved this one, Virginial...
I am always afraid that when I sleep, a spider will fall off the ceiling into my open mouth.  I try to sleep with my mouth closed or on my stomach... but cannot do either...
Oh well.....at least its protein...right!
