Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-08-30 07:50 PM

From the Window to the Hearth

                                       She stands there, so quietly,
no one knows her ravaged mind
                                       moving calmly, ever slightly
looks out windows, looks past the blinds

                                       sees beyond her far horizons,
then wonders at her given age
if she were too gray and wizened
to enter now a learning stage.

Prospects dance in to beckon her
                                       she ponders choices warily,
she weighs the past of former sure
                                       and eyes it somewhat charily.

She weighs unknowns, looks past the haze
as if wrapped in golden paper’s foil
and wanders in her mind’s amaze
is there strength enough for future toil?

She looks from window to the grate,
                                       fires burn in dying embers,
casts past to future for her fate
lays her head in search of slumber.

Sandman’s dance is but a folly,
she feels the flee of happiness,
                                       lapses into melancholy,
and feels the pull of sweet distress.

Behind eyes closed, her window’s mind
                                       searches still the vast horizon
while ghostly fingers flick the blinds
she looks for glinting break of sun.

Will tomorrow shed some light’s stream
on answers that will soothe her soul,
                                       or will nightmares visit day-dreams
and chase her from a worthy goal?

This is beautiful....seems of a woman....
searching in her soul....trying to make
a choice....wondering if she has it in
herself...if she can make the grade...
climbing the next rung up the ladder...
Wondering....choices???  Am I??  Are
they??

Beautiful poem KJ...  Beautiful picture...
so vivid the images...

(big hugggssssss) Oh Karilea, this is soooooo beautiful, sweet friend, God Bless You, I admire all the wonderful women who continue to stand up for what they believe in and dream gently to then follow the ladders to them all! (sigh) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Karilea, this is a wonderful write. I have heard these questions in my heart more than once. Could I? Should I try? Chris

Sunshine... I really enjoyed this one.
Failure is in not trying.

From within our souls
we meet the challenges at hand
Always foucsed on our goals
from life this we demand

Kari,
I've flicked those lace curtains a time or two myself but never so beautifully as you.

Dear Karilea, wonderful to see your picture and see who I am writing back to, I enjoyed the read indeed, much ponder and questioning from within, it seems we do much of that, if often invades on our sanity I am sure.

Past the visions of our wonder
Past the dreams and nightmares hold
We search forever answers
Of the tales that fate foretold

Sincerely

Karilea, what a wonderful portrayal of thought.

...' Will tomorrow shed some light’s stream
on answers that will soothe her soul,
or will nightmares visit day-dreams
and chase her from a worthy goal?...'

How I hope she will stay in the light and go after what she dreams of and her goals.

Hugs, Marti

I think we've all asked this question of ourselves at times.  Personally, I know what the years ahead have in store for me.  This is wonderfully penned, certainly some of your best work.
