It's moving day,
What disarray!
Lamps and tables,
Boxes, labels,
Glass" and "Fragile"
"Please be careful!"
The boxes packed,
All neatly stacked,
I'm in a rush
Now, where's my brush?
The movers come,
But I'm not done!
The odds and ends,
What should I send?
If I'm in doubt,
I'll throw it out.
Their grunts and groans,
My aching bones!
They moved the hutch,
Oh gawd, the dust!
I cringe inside,
No place to hide!
I must confess,
The house' a mess!
I'll mop the floor,
Then clean some more!
As they heave ho,
"Don't let that go!
My antique bed,
Is worth your head!"
With the last load,
They hit the road,
I'm all alone,
No telephone.
I say goodbye,
Try not to cry.
I lock the door,
My home no more.

Oh, 'tis not the end!
I'll start again,
New telephone,
New 'home, sweet home'!

I see you and my mother have something MORE in common.  She moved about 3 months ago and was sick for the experience too.
I hate the thought of moving too...
not because it is a new place
but for all the joy lacking
in packing up all your belongings
and sorting, ditching, labelling
and hopefully not breaking
the china or the electronics...
Quite a fine poem...
well expressed
you have my best wishes
for a warm new home
and unbroken dishes.

Love, Light and Peace,
Sherry
check it out.....The Move

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.

Loved this poem, Linda.  I can thoroughly sympathize, and only hope that your move has been, or will be, much less stressful than mine.  UVL dropped the ball (and a whole crapperfull more) on my move.  If it was new, or even looked new, it got dinged or smashed.  In spite of my loud and numerous pleadings that my Digital Ensemble (real expensive keyboards) be carried flat, these jokers actually tipped it on end when I had my back turned. YYYYYYEEEEEEEESHSHSHSH!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your visit to my "moving" poem in #20, as well.  I appreciate your comments.

Sometime this weekend I hope to unpack the remaining eleven boxes tossed randomly through my bedroom (after MM and I visit the EX), this the last from my June 1st move.

Thank you for the input everybody. I get appoplectic when I read this poem. Moving is very stressful but thankfully each time I moved, it was a step up (whatever that means!?!)

Alterego, I hope you'll soon be settled in your new abode and that you will be very happy there. Shame about the damage during the move. My antique bed sustained some damage as well and the mover's head can be found somewhere north of the 49th parallel!

I know I'm late in replying, but I wanted to wish you the best of luck in your new home. I hope the head of that mover teaches those sons of ###### to be more careful in future!! On MY last move almost EVERYTHING was damaged and my High School ring as well as an old diamond one went missing... My how I HATE MOVERS!! Once again..best of luck!
May all your rooms be full of love and laughter...

You certainly did one thing perfectly...

Penning the feelings and trials of the
move...  Well done....

Moving is so exciting, but also the worst and most tiring experience. My husband and I moved our youngest  son who's in college from one dorm to another. You wanna talk dust?

I don't think the boys had cleaned the place since they moved in a year ago. He had 2 trash bags filled with odds and ends that he didn't know what to do with. I think those 'things' have been moving with him for 4 years!  :-)

I enjoyed this and wish you much luck in your new home.  Hugs, Marti
