The Wall

I cannot find the words
To say the things I want to say
I cannot find the face
I should be wearing for today

I cannot catch my thoughts
Too many flash before me now
I cannot watch my life
But I have to live some how

Numbness consumes my very soul
My spirit dies each day I know
To find a light, a glimmer of hope
When I cannot even see a glow

All my emotions, all the time
Find their way of tearing at my heart
With every second I hope for a miracle
I can’t afford to fall apart

I keep telling myself that I get stronger
With every obstacle that I surpass
Alas! It’s safe, another wall
This one is stronger, and bound to last

I understand the feelings of which you speak, right up to the last stanza. It sounds as if the new "wall" you've met has made you happy because you think it will last. Which side of the wall are you on? Is it keeping the world from you or by its strength has it made you stronger yet, because you've overcome it, too?

I'm sorry for being confused, but I think you are the only one who can clear it up for me.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Eventually you will let the wall fall and others to come in. It may take a long time and it will probably be very difficult, but it will make you happier. Just take on breath at a time and know there are many people who care about you that are there for you when you are ready.

VAS - Thanks for replying and don't be sorry about being confused.  The wall that I'm refering to is the wall that alot of us put up for protection.  The wall that goes up instictively so that we don't get hurt.  Every time something more happens in our lives that is painful, there's a wall that goes up.  After a while, you stop feeling and a kind of numbness sets in because of different hurtful events. More and more walls keep building up and every time a new wall goes up, it takes more for it to come down.   It's harder to face what you're dealing with when the walls don't block out what hurts.  My walls are my strength because they seperate me from my feelings and some times there's a peace in not feeling anything. Again, Thanks for replying.
