I once loved an angel in Texas-
But now that same angel is flown-
And nothing's the same down in Texas,
Now that my darling is gone.

The sun doesn't have the same luster-
The flowers have all lost their hue.
And the sky overhead, now fills me with dread...
For it is a much bluer, blue...

The blue of the sky shows my sorrow,
Like a weight it hangs over my head-
And makes me fear every tomorrow,
And makes my heart tremble with dread.

Somewhere the noon sun shines brightly-
The birds sing, and meadows are fair...
They're blessed by the touch of an angel,
Alas, this poor cowboy's not there.

So here's to an angel of glory-
With a promise of love in her eyes...
And sadly, 'tis here ends my story...
Alone with my blue Texas skies.

Oh, I want to give you a great big hug! I see by your profile you haven't been posting many poems, so I'm wondering if this piece was written recently and you felt the need to share. If so, keep writing down those feelings and sharing them with the rest of us. This was a very moving and poignant poem. Take care!

Love, Light & Laughter
Linda
