Give me your number and I will call,
To encourage you and break your fall.
I'll listen to your words of loss
And give you hope in the pause.

I'll take to heart your words of need,
Hold them close as I respond in deed,
Giving power to you of your gender,
Holding forth my arms so tender.

The line awaits your voice and dreams,
Fit me into your needing seams.
I hear your thoughts, let me hear your voice,
I'm waiting here, it's now your choice.

The timing of life begs that you act,
I'm waiting here to make you intact.
Your silence only ensures your state,
Give me the number for which I wait.

Life will endure, the die's been cast,
Our connect is fate.  Gone is the fast.
Send me your number, I will reply,
Two souls like ours must meet in time.

Give him your number,
He will not neglect
To call you right back
(Most likely collect)

I know ya was just kidding. I just wanted to say "shame on you". It was fun.

Maybe if you're really nice to him he'll post the other poem. Or should I be really nice to him??

I gave you my number
...you never called
you said your old system
had broke down and stalled

couldn't remember
what I wanted you for
so by your actions
words went out of doors

I gave you my number
if I recollect
you didn't call me
Not even collect

besides I remember
the number I swished
became the best seller
on advertiser's lists

Sorry Mike, it's a sensitive, caring, loving poem and I couldn't let you get away with ruining your reputation.

Up to your old tricks again, LongJohn? Ladies, don't fall for this one. John sells the info to a group of losers willing to pay for the scoop. I remember last time one poor gal called to cry on John's shoulder about her cat dying and she just happened to meet a guy on a park bench who was crying because HIS cat died! Well, she felt so sorry for him because she knew how he felt, a bond was established and she was cooked goose in his hands!! Is that smooth or what? LongJohn laughed all the way to the bank. WATCH HIM, ladies!!! He's evil

Toerag!!! You told me I wrote the best poem you had ever read!!! Now you switch to LongJohn!! This could be war!! Oh, we've been at war for 2 years already, haven't we? Never mind....

Whenever I enjoy the responses as much as the poem... especially when the poem sets a high standard of enjoyment such as this one does, I know the sailor has rolled back into town and the boys are at play. *G*

Excellent work, LJA... You've been mightily missed! *S*

Welcome home, Sailor!  It's been awhile, and I think we now need to know what the lady had to say when she called...there IS a poem in that thought, isn't there?

Well you touched your buddies to the core
And now they are all clamering more.
From here on out it's a fee for all
And reading it will be a ball.
Nice to see you back.

You have been very much missed LngJhn ... I enjoy your serious and thought-filled poems as sincerely as I enjoy your humerous pieces. This was a lovely read ... very much enjoyed.

Best wishes,

LOL@all of you - You've brought a smile to my face.  Thank you all for that.  I hope all of you are doing well.  I'll scounge around for the Winter poem, and then you'll see why Toe liked it so much.  I hope nobody minds if it is a repost.
