Reading Poetry

Surcease is sitting with my niece
Reading lines the poet’s lease.
Lines that shuttle wave on wave
To gentle hearts in subtle rave

When read aloud they fill the bare
And send soft music through the air.
Sooth the ach of lonely feel
And make the loneliness to heal.

Made of strings a harp of words
Turns into a flock of birds
Sets the trees with dancing leaves
Weaves my thoughts back to naïve.

Sings to me a lullaby
Makes my heavy heart to sigh.
Lifts me up into the clouds
Covers me a golden shroud.

Perhaps to you a scrip of lease
To me a wine that sips of peace.

I've discovered I can read it so much better than I can write it....(I'm sure you and Balladeer and many others agree)...

I wish to sip and savor your every rhyme sublime ...
chapter and verse Champagne ... time's finest wine.
I'll inhale each invigorating, intoxicating line ...
a bouquet of poetic Chardonnay that goes down fine.

Your words are a verdant vineyard ... effervescent and sweet ...
grapes of truth and wisdom ... an Eden elite in which to retreat.

Seymour darling heart I love it love it love it utterly. Loud bravo’s coming from the front stalls here darling heart, and shouts of encore encore.

If I were wine would you imbibe me?
Sipping me slowly and delicately
Would my bouquet waft through you
Teasing your senses then flowing through
Would you feel the warmth of wine’s kiss?
Flowing over your tongue in tasteful bliss

I love this poem from you darling man it is utterly perfect, as always your writing is something special and I love it utterly utterly. Another absolutely perfect poem from the maestro of poetic music. And these lines of yours are exceptional, you really are a wonderful poet, and a fabulous friend

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Fun, isn't it?  When we have the moments to
sit and share poetry with another...

I did that today when I wrote/read a poem
that I gave to a friend at his birthday..

We all enjoyed that moment...I am sure,  as
much as you did your own..

We should always read (more than we write) The world opens up and we see and feel it.

Lovely poem. *s
