To Set Myself Free

As I sit here with you on my mind
I wonder how you are today
Are hung over from the night before
Did you make it through the night safe

Two and a half weeks have gone by
Since you came and said you were leaving
Sometimes I see you drowning your sorrows
As you keep on doing all your drinking

It seems to have taken a great hold on you
Your problems you keep trying to drink away
You don't realize they will only get worse
I wish you could see this before it is too late

It does me no good to even try to talk to you
You never even seem to hear anything I say
The hope is gone now of us being together
It seems that nothing will ever be okay

I couldn't have loved you more than I have
Those feelings I have now stuffed inside of me
To feel them now causes me too much pain
From this pain I have to set myself free

I waited as long as I possibly could for you
Now I have to leave and make a life for myself
A life that I know will be a whole lot better
I only hope that you will take care of yourself

I know this feeling Sue..I live it every day... I wish I coud tell you it will get better, but for me it hasn't...at least not yet, probably not until he takes me down with him..which isn't far to go.

Sue - It takes a long time to realize that we cannot change anyone but ourselves. I am glad that you are moving on - you deserve a happy life. This was a heartfelt write and I enjoyed it. Chris
