somebody's dungeon

With dark of sky
came the rain
to quench the thirst
of barren land.

The earth drank deep
of natures fount.
The grass is now
green with sprout.

The petals heavy
on blossoms dry
with moisture now
the flowers sigh.

At last the rain
a need is met
dry, cracked earth
is now made wet.

I listen soft
with cultured ear
as nature sated
whispers clear.

Thank you heavens
for the rain
we grow at last
we bloom again.

WhiteRose

I said so softly
twas lost amid.
A whisper gone
thought now dim.

You are such a sweet white rose
Your rhyme and verse gently flows
The words drop down like falling rain
I'll read this poem once again.

Sounds like a spring poem... in the  middle of the summer... but we did need the rain.

Lovely

the_loner_23, Thank you Julie for your
comments. Glad you enjoyed.

Mike, your comments are always appreciated.

Linda, Your response poem truly touched my heart. Thank you.

Sy, as always comments from the "master" of words are a delight for me.

Sherry, Thank you so much for your comment. It does have the elements of a Spring poem. With everything now blooming at last. And oh how we needed the rain.

ThisDiamond, Thank you as well for your response. The earth was definately thirsty around here. The grass was dry, the trees all drooped. The change today is miraculous.

A very beautiful poem, Anne...
When it rains, it pours...
In Michigan, we've had hardly any rain all summer...but when it did rain...it rained buckets...
It rained last Saturday...just poured buckets...but we haven't seen a drop since then...and our trees are looking so brown...
I'm afraid it won't be a very pretty autumn this year...
~ rainy hugs

Barry, Yes we got lots of rain, but we needed it so desperately. I hope it will help more than just a little but I'm afraid we need much more before it will make a difference.

Lyra, I've been up to Michigan. It was kind of brown when I was up there. Hopefully you will get rain soon. It was cold up there too when I was there.
