Realms of Light

In a dazzling blaze of glory the fiery orb dips
lower in the horizon.
A celestial tapestry is formed by the myriad of
colors that streak the early evening skies.
The gentle, cooling breeze is beginning to stir
-a welcome change from the blistering heat of the day.
There is a pervading peacefulness with the winding
down of the day's activities that perhaps heightens
one's perceptions of their surroundings.
The scent of flowers seems more pronounced while
the smell of fresh mown grass conjures up images
of summers past.
My reverie is soon broken by the sweet song of a
meadowlark as it settles down for the night.
The landscape is now limned with an ethereal glow
as the sun slips out of sight.
During this twilight hour I am acutely aware of
being alive
-with every breath of fresh air that I take,
with every stroke of God's paintbrush I witness,
with every sight and smell and sound I perceive.

Welcome, and thank you for sharing this beautiful poem. It left me with a tranquil smile, even though I'm about to wind up and cathch the bus for work, instead of winding down. Well done, and welcome to these passionate pages.
