One kid at a time I can handle fine,
And you can bet I love both mine,
But when you're getting up in years,
More than one will bust your ears.

They shout and yell and run about,
They turn your house quite inside out
I wonder which will be the first,
To make my eardrums finally burst.

You'd think that science could invent,
A way to turn them down a bit,
Or better still to make them quit
With a simple on-off switch.

I sometimes sit and try to think,
A way that I could make them shrink,
No bigger than a tiny tid bit,
Like a dwarf that's too a midget.
Then I could shove them in a drawer,
And close it up and hear no more.

Bad, bad Toe

Leave it to you to say what a lot of us are thinking.  I dislike the LOUD of small children at times. And my 24yr. old is LOUD too with his electric guitar. I can hear it playing when I'm still down the street from his house in the car. Sometimes (and don't tell anyone) I see the cars of all his friends and I know they are in there jammin and I drive right on by! Loved the poem!

Touch me with your whispers,
and I'll listen with my heart.

And this is why children should be seen and NOT heard, although my children are always heard, as in a herd of elephants is what they resemble.

I need my drawer space. I prefer to freeze-dry them until 21.  THEN, let them loose!

Did we ever have that much energy... and volume??? LOL My Dad swears yes... but I sorta doubt it. LOL I thought my sister's first two were rambunctious enough... now the little one makes them seem like models of peace and quiet. *G* Of course, the minute silence settles on my ears, I want them back. *G*

I love this one, sweets... very much!!!

Three o’clock feedings
On a spouse you might foist
But whether hunger or diapers
There’s always the noise.

They’re up Christmas mornings
To see their new toys
And exhausted parents
Must deal with the noise.

It seems every weekend
Troups of girls and boys
Come to play with your angels
There’s always the noise.

From ready rough-housing
To mature and poised
Wherever they are
There’s still lots of noise.

And then they settle down
With  their life’s choice
And start a new family -
And bring you more noise.

LOL... Sorry, sweets... couldn't resist... it could be worse??? LOL

Well Mr.Toe....
There is a secret to all of this...
The way to make the noise stop but still keep the kids is to marry them off at a young age...
preferably to someone wealthy.
The only problem with this is that it boomerangs back at you when they have their own kids and ask you to babysit them...
But if they wait long enough to have these kids...
believe it or not... you will actually welcome the noise

Toe darling man now this one I love, you are so so true, the noise is one thing I wouldn’t bring back. But then I wouldn’t bring the mess back either. Yes I’d definitely put them in a drawer and leave them there for a decade or two.

Actually I have a soft spot for small loud children, no I have really …………….. it’s called a swamp

Wonderful writing and Suthern darling heart YOUR reply is wonderful, I love it utterly. Post it so I can reply to it with due respect. (big grin) after all you wouldn’t want me to miss out giving it an in depth reply. (I wonder where you get lessons in those, there must be someone who gives them, don’t you think? *Smile)

I love it utterly utterly utterly love it, well written extremely well written

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Me WUB noisy kids,
and nosey kids
and kids that have a song
Kids that love to make merry
the entire day long~

Big kids, little kids
Kids without a volume control
But the kids that me WUB best
are kids that play Tickle-Tackle TOE~
