Let Go

Everything changes this we all know
Time’s river continues its measured flow
If we freeze our souls locked in the past
We might think that we can make something last
The truth is we simply hide away
Never letting our sore hearts out to play
Let go of the past and start again
Feel love’s gentle kiss let go of past pain

No matter what time flows ever on
And some when it will be forever gone
Let go of your fears walk into now
If you try you’ll get there some when some how
Don’t be afraid to let your past go
Take that first step into times ceaseless flow
Only facing why you can’t move on
Will you say your past is finally gone

Let go of your past kiss it goodbye
Leave lonely memories wrapped in a sigh
Only those afraid of what will be
Refuse to take that step of liberty
Looking back and holding on too tight
Keeps you stuck where you can’t use hope’s clear sight
Use what you’ve learned to set your soul free
Now your own future calls you come to me

Don’t look away from futures clear light
Walk on to tomorrow its there in sight

Marsha

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

This is beautiful, Marsha... and wonderful advice! *S* Sometimes, it's hard to leave the known... even when it no longer even remotely qualifies as a comfort zone. *S* I like this very much. *S*

Two steps toward and none behind
Simple thought from weary mind
Taking the two-step to the dance
Looking forward,  not back a glance.

Let the mind keep going it's way
tippy toeing along this shiny day.
Never lookin' back to see or find
Nor pretendin' to be just blind...

Good message dear Mushy....surely this is..

GAWWWWRSH!
this was awe-inspiring, Maaaasha!
Do you know
that it is an utter pleasure
to walk your dreams with you
thru your poetry.
This work speaks loudly to me;
hopefully my inner workings will listen.
One more GAWWWWRSH
just for good measure.

Marsha - this poem is awesome and oh, so true. Life is too short to dwell on the past. Chris

Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away.

Wise words expertly told, mushy one. The past is past....we have to let it go and move on.....one of those things so easy to say and so hard to do. Your wisdom is showing

Some say that the past, the present, and the future are all happening at the same time. I have some difficulty wrapping my mind around this concept; however, I do know one thing for certain, life is a lot less complicated when you concentrate on the present. Live in the now. (It's the Zen thing to do!)That way you don't bog yourself down with problems from the past or with fears for the future.
