Between midnight thoughts

Standing alone,
Wings torn from his back,
Faithless..
Fallen angel.
Does he still see her face,
Can he still kiss her tears,
And taste her saline sadness?
Down the path of bliss these lovers strolled,
Secrets their hearts crevices did hold,
Hand in hand facing the night,
Lost in love, starry eyed.
Yet fate rolled the dice...
Soon the dreams, the hopes, the prayers...
All fell silent.
He roams the streets.
Searching now for a soul,
One like hers,
Even prostitutes he holds,
Looking far her love.
Searching for her spirit.
Finding none.
Embraced by his loneliness.
Bliss escapes his nights,
Anguish filled,
He dwells in his sleepless plight,
Heart throbbing with pain of the still fresh memories.
Tear stained,
Blood spotted,
Splinters of yesterday.
Lacerations in time,
That bleed forever,
Embedded in a mind,
Which has lost it's fervour...
For life.
The thorny wreath of love,
Draped around his heart,
Dug into his flesh,
Suffocates his blistered soul.
He drifts off into yesteryear,
Flashes of a love lost now bombards his mind,
Is he dreaming?
Seeing her again,
Running away, off to his home,
While he drowns his sorrows in liquor,
In a place of broken dreams.
She sits waiting,
Her eyes shimmering,
Like the moon on the waters surface,
Glassy.
Hoping.
But he never returns...
He has nothing to offer her...
No home...
Money..
What else but love?
A fleeting emotion.
They take her away again.
Simultaneously,
Another dose of dead man's brew,
Irrigates his system of all reason.
She stumbles to the alter,
Like a trembling leaf in the wind,
Surely he will save her,
Love always wins.
Ceremony proceeds,
She looks into empty eyes,
Her hand outstretched,
Frozen.
Her finger will not move.
A silent tear falls,
It's colour red,
A tear from the heart.
A cry from the soul.
She knows he will rescue her.
But she is now another's wife.
Days pass,
Nights creep,
Her womanhood a the mercy,
Of this unfeeling beast.
She feels her love...
And yet sees the face of the one,
Who did not save her,
Who did not care to.
Each second with this man untop her,
Grinding into her soul,
Feels like a meandering forever,
Of desolation and hurt.
Violation.
The moment they take their eyes off her..
She runs as far and fast as she could,
She runs,
And screams.
Until she finds his arms.
But the man she once held,
Is no longer there,
For the woman she once was,
She no longer is.
Society made her someone else,
Another mans wife.
He calls her husband and her so called parents.
For he longs for that which is no longer his.
He does the "right thing."
The tear her from his arms,
Screaming, clawing at his pants seams,
Begging,
"Please love, don't let them take me..."
Staring into his eyes,
For the man she loves...
She does not find him.
He is not there.
He looks into her eyes,
And sees her suffering..
But looks into himself,
And sees nothing.
A shadow of a man.
Anything is better than himself.
He can offer her nothing but a fleeting emotion.
Only a feeling.
Her contempt for them rages,
She spits in his face,
Screaming,
"Save me you coward! Save the woman you love!!!"
But he does the "right thing."
As they break her legs,
That she may never run again.
He turns his face in shame,
Cloaking his pain,
In justification that her husband can provide.
Something that he cannot do.
"One day she'll thank me" he thinks.
As she breathes curses of his name.
She returns to hell,
Breathing curses of his name.
She would lose her breath,
Before that man touches her again,
Hanging from the ceiling,
She chooses to end her pain.
But death stares her in the face and smiles...
"You will suffer!"
"You shall not die"
So she tries it again,
To no avail.
She writes him letters,
Begging to take her away,
But chained in her fetters,
Is where she will stay.
Till she bears her child of sorrow.
And her love,
Her true love,
Dies a fresh death,
Every time he speaks her name,
Every breath he takes.
The wind leaves kisses on her ear,
In sweet whispers,
For her to hear,
To clam her soul.
But what soothes him?
Not even the bottle.
Fallen angel.
He looks inside himself,
And sees nothing.
Certainly not enough to give to her.
That is his mistake.
For she saw something.
Something she made him,
In her eyes,
With her love.
Something he is.
An angel,
That will fly again,
For her love surrounds him,
Numbing his pain...
At intervals.

His secret..
"I'm not good enough, I shall let her have better."

Hers..
"Nothing will keep me from him."
"Not even life itself."

And now that he searches for the one he's lost,
Her gift lives within him.
Her love.
That will never pass.
Till they lose their breath,
In one...
Last...
Gasp...
The last breath that they share..
The last beat their hearts make in sync.
The last thought they perceive..
Of each others face,
Fading softly into the light..
Where they exist eternally,
As one soul.

For Hang.

My friend, i'm sorry. You will find your way again.
As for me, be happy...
Before they take my love from me..
They must take my life.

My last breath shall be for her and none shall separate us.

Gabriel...
This is quite a story...
beautifully written, but very long...

I loved the story, though... such a maze of misunderstandings...
Well at least that poor couple will remain together in eternity... lets hope.

Oh my, it’s been a long time since I read anything so powerful….so emotionally gut wrenching. Pure raw emotion that all but bled down the page. An amazing piece of writing. A piece this long doesn’t usually keep my attention, but this did…every word.

I am partial to long poetry stories and when it is especially as gripping as this one, well then it certainly is a treat.  Your combination of both poetic and free style integrated throughout called for a second read.  This was a great thing you wrote for your friend, and I hope you get a chance to read this aloud, as I did the second time.  Well done.

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

I do not think I could say it any better than Mysteria has.  Your writing is powerful, and gripping, and very sad.  I will be glad to watch as you unravel the many facets behind the writer...

Well done, Sir.

Thank you all for your comments, i wrote this for a friend and surely he and I both wish there was never reason for me to write this piece.Sadly, it is a true story, except that they are all still alive.
