To find the one compatible enough to share your life To share the goodtimes and the bad as husband or as wife To cast aside temptation and the pitfalls that appear And stay together, come what may, through every passing year.... Takes patience, perserverance and the luck of Irishmen. It is a race that we all run but only few will win And should that time reach sixty years it is miraculous A goal to be admired and envied by the rest of us. I tried to do it once and I am happy to report I almost made it! (I was only 59 years short) But here within our midst we have a man who made the grade And it is time to give our guy a ticker-tape parade. Our thanks to Ron for dedicating valued cyber-space And Nancy Ness for building it with dignity and grace. Sy/Isabel....I am just trying to get to 40 years...and that is a few from now... Takes a lot from both to commit oneself to marriage for that length of time.... One of the memories I took away from my weekend in Florida earlier this summer was the look on Isabel's face when Seymour had been telling about Alaska and she said "He came home to me." The love on her face made her look like a bride... and that was simply beautiful. *S* This poem is beautiful, also...
