Here, Now, Forever

(Three days ago a friend of mine by the name of Steven Ferry from Lawrence High School passed away on Whitehead road in Lawrenceville, NJ. His car was found wrapped around a telephone pole. He died instantly. I decided to pen a tribute to the repose of his soul. This incident will serve a lesson to all of us.)

I am sadly empowered,
As I hold this pen.
Sequestering the chilling fact,
that all our lives will end.

You'll see him pushing a buck fifteen,
Careening down that road,
Death right around that corner there,
This cold fate etched in stone.

This young man passed on happily,
He passed on not alone,
He passed on laughing, chased by cops,
Against a telephone pole.

Death greeted him with instant,
Fast and without pain,
The street then greeted his flowing red,
Now washed away by last night's rain.

I am sadly empowered,
Indeed, I lament not.
I'm confident that Steve lives on,
Oblivion exists not.

You'll see him on the barstool,
Smoking a ciggarette,
You'll see her in the indifferent arms of a man she's never met.

You'll see him sitting all alone,
Making poems in the dark.
You'll hear her singing neglected gold,
A fawn soft meadowlark.

You'll see him on the televistion,
Propagating war.
You'll see her kissing your sleeping face,
Before she shuts the door.

You'll feel the pains of this rancid dream,
Your blood dripping so fast.
You'll see your God standing over you,
Euphoria everlast.

Justifications, mutilations.
Scuicides so rampant.
Departure to another world,
Where you can just revamp it!

Find strengh in what I say here,
Take comfort in what I send,
With an empty, almost indifferent heart,
I complete this poetic requiem.

Love the ones who love you,
All is love I discern,
'For the greatest thing you'll ever learn
is to love and be loved in return.'

Love the ones who love you,
All who are, they will,
Steve Ferry, dream a dream for me,
Be happy, you always will.

Life is a lonely journey to, and a heavy-hearted departure from three words. I LOVE YOU

Peace. It's hard to lose a friend at such a young age. You wrote a nice farewell.

I can tell you I am glad I came in to read this.

I spent a moment in your thoughts and your heart spoke volumes.

A powerful write.
