I watched you walk
hand extended
to accept that piece of paper,
that one that said you
were now taking
your first steps
into the future.

And a heart swelled
with pride.

At that moment
all I had to offer
were        some words
written from heart,
yet fearing it would
not be       enough.

You did not turn it away
but instead      accepted it
with grace and love
in your heart.

And a heart swelled
with pride.

A few days ago
I saw you
grow into a man
strong,
       strength of character
holding love
for family
and those cherished
in heart.
Decisions.....
oh in the adult world
can sometimes be          so hard,
but you,  again arose
to the occasion,
handling it in a very
grown up way.....
in a very adult world.

And a heart swelled with pride.

And now, we watch
as you leave yesterday behind
and drive away into tomorrow,
ready to embark on your journey
to make your way into  life,
           your future,
into a world full of tomorrows....

and the light that shines
from our hearts
shines from the pride
we have      in you.

(A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of watching my
nephew graduate from school.
A few days ago I had the pleasure of seeing
him leave to begin his future starting
in college.
It is with so much pride that I say......
Scott,  you are so very loved....
and we.......are so very proud.

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...

(big hugggssssss) Oh Donna, this is soooooo beautifully heartfelt, I know how it must feel for an adult to make such difficult decisions yet be so proud of their loved ones at he same time. I also start college next week and I wish your Scott the best success, it has been so hard for me because my parents have barely been thinking of my college and wish for me to take it on my own! (kiss on cheek) This is a beautifully compassionate read, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Donna,
you have written a wonderful anthem
for all Graduation Days
even if we have them
over and over
our whole life

When Scott graduated, at the time all I could give him was a gift of words......
this is how I felt, but did he ever do me proud by letting me know that it did mean something to him......
now you see why I am so very proud of this young man who has accomplished so very much!!
He is a treasure.  Thanks to you all!!

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...
