Not Just Another New York Day

The clouds are pure white
The sun shines and
The sky is bright
How could anyone know
Where did the songbirds go?

Remember them
Their faces
Their names
With silent prayers, the people waited
and still the ashes fell
on twisted steel and concrete blocks
never knowing souls covered all

They are in the air
In every breath you take
In between the words you speak
on the curbsides of the city streets
imbedded in the cracks, laid to rest
on the sideswalks of New York

Remember them
not just another New York day...

It changed life as we shall forever
know it...and no real day shall ever
be just another day...

well said, and I am glad you've joined Passions...

You are right...and what a unique way of looking at it...sensitive and well done...brought back an ache that will never go away.
