Look to the stars

Mama counted little stars that watched you from the sky
And sang each night the lyrics of the sweetest lullaby
Papa told you funny tales before you closed your eyes
You still can see your Mama’s laughter in the midnight skies

No need explain the wealth bestowed within a toddler’s bed
When love spins joy and peace around a little sleepy head
He understands his fortune in the warmth of an embrace
His eyes respond in likeness to the love in Mama’s face

Your ship was gently launched within a trundle’s wooden frame
“Twas here the strength of character was laid upon your name
Whenever oceans toss and churn, you gaze toward a star
And see the place from where you came, the person that you are

For nothing soothes a child as love, before his tender sleep
Where strength of man was hollowed in a pillow soft and deep
The stars and moons and loving words came first before a dream
And filled a little trundle ship with worth and self esteem

ahhhh Liz gal, you gave me a chill with this one.  So soft and tender and beautiful is this much like the gentle poetess who penned it.  Truly a fine piece of art you have given us this day.  Hugs.

This is exactly why I have a really hard
time ever saying no to one of my children
when they ask me to read them a story at
bed time.....

Beautifully worded...and so very true...

Thank You Liz...

Melissa, Thank you, dear. Now what happened to all those comments above that diappeared from this post. I possibly could forgotten to submit. But I am simply not a forgetful person! Someone could have deleted it for all the swear words I use. But serious, I did respond to each but they flew away, so I'll just say thank you to all for your wonderful comments

Now Tammy chimes in with a lovely comment, Little Charles is in his trundle ship, and if mommy has a tear in her eye it is surely a tear of love
Thank you
