What is faith?

Faith is the feeling that you’ll come back to me, deep within my soul.

Faith is knowledge in your heart.

Faith is thank God.

Faith is love boundless.

Faith is a covenant.

Faith is energy transferred.

Faith is belief internalized.

Faith is like air, not seen, but observed in its effects on the world, and felt as a gentle breeze in times of distress.

Faith is the space holding here and now.

Faith is the ether of dreams.

A poem is like water
that you heat for your bath.

It takes the messages between heat
and your skin. It lets them meet,
while cleansing you!

Very few can sit down
in the middle of the fire itself.
We need intermediaries.

A feeling of fullness comes,
but usually it takes some bread
to bring it.

The body itself is a screen
to shield and partially reveal
the light that’s blazing inside
Your presence.

Water, poems, the body,
all the things that we do are mediums
that hide and show what’s hidden.

Study them,
And enjoy this being washed
With a secret we sometimes know,
and then not.

So the candle flickers and goes out.
We have a flint, and a spark.

This singing art is sea foam.
The graceful movements come from pearls
somewhere down on the ocean floor.

Poems reach their tendrils on the edge like driftwood,
On the beach, wanting!

They derive from a slow and powerful root
we can’t see.

Stop the words now.
Open the window in the center of your chest,
And let your spirit flow through.
