In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2002-08-23 08:23 PM

{The dark sky  --
        city between us
}

She stood   between  cradle and bed
I saw her white    gown spark a candle,
    a book,    pages
tied together with wiring
     testimony

Not once:
did I suspect the earth was hollow, lost
as I,   among       fields

or the flame
that held  shadows

{I speak of  shaded  walls}  watching

for the moon to rise,
long  --   time  --  pale  --  still
waiting sky   --

resounding    river,  wondrous --
       haunting
the moon's changing faces

I surrender  my fear
to a past I can not discard

2:00 AM
white clouds
       suspend above the city

I find myself starting to say
   {"who carried   you home?"}
angels?                          ofpeace

Etched glass of  spirit, stone
      clues  --  divine presence --
every shadow sits  silent  in seduction
      lavender evenings   dance somewhere

blue fills  windows
green calms  fears

      she was tender  loving

I define her vesper whispers
in silent moments
bringing rain to  gardens

she,  beautiful, lovely-- gentle

my heart
     no longer lost

The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket
I lean against the wind pretend I am weightless and in this moment I am happy

Hmmmm ....
I found a strange calmness as I read this.
Perhaps it was the candle burning bright
in my new window. Maybe its the sound of
peaceful rain feeding the flowers outside
it. Maybe because I have been carried
   home.

Either way ... loved how you still put it
   all together.

The candlelight flickered, the words held steady. Lauren, you have such a soft magical way with imagery, I always come away wanting to read more.

This is very beautiful. I enjoyed not only the read but the phasing. Yes, I too, would love to hear you read it. So creative and hauntingly tender.

Writers could learn by reading your work, Lauren, as I've learned and am still learning.  Wonderful, my friend. *hugs*

L~ sometimes when I read your words,
I no longer feel lost.
I feel as though there is someone out there
who knows and understands things in the way that I do.  I feel like.....there is hope.....

everytime that I read you Lauren,
I am blessed and thankful that the good Lord
let us become the friends that we are today, for when he sent me you, indeed....
an angel......

Lauren,  if I ever fall asleep reading your
poetry,  it won't be from boredom....but
quite simply 'cause it was a lullaby....

Love the new pic too...very nice...I can
see you dreaming and composing in that pose..

and what kind of a flame I'd like to see there. . .
