This was written about something that
actually happened here in Australia
and was reported in the newspaper
recently and I felt compelled to
write about it.

* * * *

You fondled and abused them
Just to satisfy yourself
Your victims had been forgotten
Like an old book on a shelf

But one of them found courage
And she faced you outside court
Her innocence you had taken
Leaving her emotionally distraught

Through her years of torment
She held a secret deep within
Too afraid of telling anyone
What you did was such a sin

We've been told you were her Uncle
Someone she trusted with her heart
But through your self satisfaction
You tore her heart and soul apart

You've finally been brought to justice
But will you ever really learn
For the poison inside your body
Will once again cause you to yearn

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Excellent write Sue...on a very difficult subject.
I'm glad the person was brought to trial..
but it does leave the burning question...
Will he do it again?
Let's pray 'not'.

Sadly, it is a story that repeats itself every few minutes around the globe. You did a fine and sensitive write with a difficult subject.

Hi Sue ~~ I was with two of my girlfriends last night and one of them is a hospital chaplain in training and she said she is just appalled and stunned at the overwhelming number of abuse cases she has run into in just the short time of 4 months that she has been training.

How terrible, outrageous and pathetic, especially for young children.

Hi Sue

It makes you want to hold your children that much closer. A scarey world we live in.

A heart felt poem. Thank you for sharing it.

Hello Sue.....your title is what drew me in.  I relate very well to this poem.  I am still in the middle of my court battle with this very same issue.  I was molested for years from my foster parents...the very same people that the state entrusted me to after my biological parents were convicted for doing the same..How ironic is that.
Anyway,  it's good to see that more people are taking notice of this problem.....and that more people are listening.
