Expectation

Each season gratifies the eyes and ears
With newness to the rhythms of the earth
A child sips the cup of future years
A mother, the esteem of coming birth

All seasons have a beauty of their own
Each change anticipated with delight
A flower sips the cup of rising sun
And gives no heed to passing of the night

Upon a new horizon eyes engage
To seek that special dream we’ve held within
We sip the golden chalice of each age
With expectations pouring from the brim

But oh, how life so swiftly turns the page
How fast upon us comes the winter wind

Elizabeth Santos

I guess I think I'm still 30...I feel like I've a long way to go, and yet, yet...the wind is a'nipping at my heels...

thank you, Lady Santos!

They say that Winter is the cruelest.  But, I think that they need to look again.

Thank you.

Sunshine,
As long as you THINK you are, that's all that matters! You've too much wisdom for a 30 year old
You EARNED it!

As winter approaches I see from the distance of Summer, how I long for its cool fingers.

'...But oh, how life so swiftly turns the page

Hmmm, Elizabeth...I was trying to explain this concept to my 22 year old just this morning. Life begins to fly by and the older we get the quicker is moves. But at 22, this is not something to be understood.

May I have your permission to send him a copy of your poem?

Thank you, Marti
