Rewrite:

The Moon

Where is that host that lantern light?
That ghost I use to speak at night.
That lavaliere that hung the sky
Where does it rear where does it lie?

No moon or magic can I find
Could it be I’m going blind?
I know for some it glows warm gold
Could it be I’m growing old?

Where is that moon I used to know?
That lived in phantoms fancies glow.
That fired all the alchemy
That set my heart and minds a spree?

It’s turned from gold to silvers glare
Chilled of ice and gray of wear.
It wears a shroud a lace of web
It airs a cloud of subtle ebb.

Dancing me a tenuous rhyme
As sands slip down and spill my time.

I know the feeling Seymour...the moon will shine again for you, just like the sun will rise. It's just a cycle.

I dont know which is more impressive..the imagery or the vocabulary...the word play or the cadence...all I do know is...no matter what the mood of your muse...your poetry always shines.
Where's the moon? After reading this...me thinks its in your pen

Rewrite? my Delight!
the moon was fantabulous
last night...
but the winds are bringing
in the summer storms...

Thanks for the read, my friend!

~Seymour

I wouldn't miss
your moon - not now
nor in this month of swoon
When upon this August night
I would see it glowing bright
I'd glance and say-Oh Sy
I see your moon glow
dancing by~

Seymour - I love the moon, full of romance it can be. For some reason I seem to be writing more about it, must be the magic of it...

Ya know what I think ? I think the moon will always be there for you! All you need to do is to get glasses...maybe? (If you don't have them already)??

Seriously, I liked this a lot. In fact I always read your poems but don't have the chance to reply too often!

There was a full moon here in St. Catharines last night, and now? this poem - talk about perfect timing...consider me a 'moonie' now.

I'm with Janet, the vocab, imagery, emotion and classic style is beyond compare. I'm moved by it's joyful and melancholy tone, and, yet, it is so beautiful throughout.  Just when I think I've read your best, you further impress with the next!

Yet another keeper (I have so many of your poems saved in my library already - and it's an honour)

Take care,
Melissa~

Dear Sy-Wonderful write, but I suspect when you find that moon once more it will be just as you left it, lost between high and low tides.  Somewhere I have confidence in you that you will find the perfect balance between the two.  Hugs to you my friend.

You are one of the finest poets on the forum.

You may have lost the moon, Sy...but you will always have the stars in your eyes...
I can tell that by reading your beautiful poems.
