What is it like for you
to be -above ground-
collecting seconds in fluid
pumping your organs full
like blisters?

What is it like
to be a breather
a sleeper
a lover or two?
To be a dancer
a doctor
a bleeding knower?

What is it like for you
to be -above ground-
tracing soil in wonder
paring flesh into sections
with the flick of blade that close?
The burn of slumber
baking in the pillows
just beneath your eyes
the flip of page peeling
the ticking timer screaming need?

What is it like
knowing that poetry
and pleading
can never save you,
knowing that your leader's eyes
burst bones, baby's beds
and innocent red hearts
to dust?

What is it like for you
to be -above ground-
watching your skin
fade fall and harden
while the tissue of you
still worries and hurts -
still wants?

It's dizzying and it begs me lay down. But I shan't.

Alicia...how do you do this?
An apt title, a very deep, emotional
write...your picture always goes well
with what you leave us to read...

I will trade you some "up" writing for
some "deep" writing any day...

If I’d wish
I’d wish to be like you are,
Buried deep,
Ever sleep,
Never have to wander far.

If I breath,
Forcing pollution inside,
Filling fears
Through the years,
Exposed unable to hide.

Wishing to be planted down,
Peacefully,
Never again to be found.

I am very impresed with the depth of this. This is something that must be read again and again...

I see that you're someone who walks the plane.  That's a good thing.  There need to be more of us.

Thank you.

Alicia - very intense and well written. Chris

~Being away is the excuse for the delay in expressing my appreciation of your reading and comments. How to thank you, for time and thought, for the amazing things left behind for me to read in return? I'm just not sure. Know though, that your reading is appreciated. Take care of yourselves.
*Peace. .
