Rain’s Afterglow

though tiny puddles
there depth is endless
as skies reflections
receive their sunlit kiss

it looks as if
one could dive
into the heavens
though the puddle’s
really only one/eighth-inch thick

perhaps it is this way
with the beauty of one’s soul
a superficial look
to the depth of one’s skin
will not exact the wonder
held within

yet to peer into the eyes
intent to see
a world may be reflected
back to me

and in that world
a love, a faith, a hope
much greater than
one might ever dream

I was so certain there'd be a rainbow with the bit of rain and brilliant sun, but, alas, I found none. Somehow, though, I think it's in my heart, anyway, because of how this morning feels.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

You had rain, too?  Wasn't it wonderful?
I actually went outside early early this morning and stood in the drops as they
started to fall, then went back to bed
feeling very refreshed...

Yep  the rainbow came within a half hour I think. It was complete and against a steel blue sky. Very pretty! Thanks, Sunshine and B.C.

Lovely..rain is so good for writers...
I love to write when it's raining.
This is lovely...I almost loved your comment after the poem
as much as the poem itself.
