In lieu of photographic snapshots
I gathered memories as snippets
of Life,
travelers anecdotes,
words,
from the young and the old
from the timid and bold,
stories of Life as told
on Greyhound bus lines,
through towns with old mines
and sometimes, little minds.
Not all the tales bear repeating.
Some memories are better if fleeting.
But from the cabs to the planes,
from busses, ferries and trains,
I rode them all,
and I had a ball!
And I never slept a wink,
not at all!
If ever you are bored with Life
and your Life is lacking
inspirational strife,
hop on a Greyhound
and hold on tight,
for the stories you'll hear
are often scary, my dear!
But have no fear for
the next stop is always near,
and you can hop off anywhere
and run for cover
from Life, teeming Life.
Or you can hold on tight,
swallow your middle class fright,
then start up a conversation
with a perfect
(or not so perfect)
stranger.
I dare you!
But know when to stop
or before the next depot
your ears might get hot!

In Montana a young man
related this tale
he said he had heard
last night while in jail:

Burly man says to wife: I wear the pants in this family! (Man in oversized overalls drops his drawers, to make a point)

Timid petite wife: Oh my, those pants are way too big for me! I could never wear those!

Man, smiling: Yep, that's right, and that's why I wear the pants in the family!

(Wife smiles as she drops her petite drawers on the floor.)

Man: why, those drawers are way too small! I'd never get into those!

Wife, (smiling even more now): Exactly. And that's the way it'll stay until you have a change of attitude!

So, like I said before,
if ever you get bored
and have nothing to post
at the board,
hop on a Greyhound!
But don't fall asleep,
for there are stories to listen to,
and some you'll want to keep.

But this may not be one of them.

(smiles) Yes indeed, just wait and try the RTD Light-Rail in Denver sometime or go to a coffee-shop on the 16th Street Mall, it is amzzing hearing what others have to say and that can be a cure to writers block anytime or just to grab some extra inspiration! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Kacy,
Why not keep it? So you had an interesting trip, eh? Tell me more...please!

Welcome BACK!

Kacy...This is why I missed ya!  You always make me smile.  I rode a bus, couple times to see a girl and I wrote to her while I looked out the window and dreamed.  Wasn't a bad way to spend a few hours.  But I didn't talk to anyone!!!  Guess I missed a few good stories, huh?

Noah, yes, the Mall scene can fill your notebook with treasures. The lite rail and RTD are....interesting.

Larry, thanks! Some of the things I saw and heard made my camel's hair curl.

Duncan, maybe it's time for you to ride the rails again? It might cure you of your pubtransphobia. It's another world out on the highways and byways when you travel "public."

Kacy,
I forgot to mention that I got a failure notice (actually two) when trying to respond to your email.

Nancy and I have some Greyhound stories.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry, hope you were using the new email address. Let's hear a GL story or two. Does Nancy write?

James, I agree, the trains in Europe are fun!

Kacy,
I used the address listed here on PiP's and used your email in the reply mode three times and they all failed to deliver. Said your box was full!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Its so good to see you back here again, Kacy...
I bet you have lots of good poems written about your trip to Colorado from Alaska...
I especially loved the part about the burly man and his wife....smart woman...she!
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Marge, thanks for letting me know you got a chuckle from this one.

Lyra, I thought it was funny too. Everyone on the bus was laughing except for one man, who may well have been the original subject of the story.

Gabriel, thanks, and it's nice to meet you!

Larry, my ISP informed me they will be revamping and installing a new server this weekend, so Sunday eve 'till Monday early morn there will not be any servings served up... time for a new poem, serverless servers?
