~Ask The Stars~

Ask the silver stars ... of all that I wish for
and they will tell you true.
By midnight's light ... my heart in flight
I only want and wish of you.

Ask the metallic moon ... before it's taken too soon
for only he knows the secrets I keep.
An unending yearning ... a burning discerning
this ache stays with me even as I sleep.

Ask the summer's sun ... as the day has just begun
you're my waking thought as I rise.
By morn's first light ... born of dawn's insight
you inspire me in rhymed reprise.

Ask the endless skies ... where my heart lies
for the clouds know the promises kept.
A tender touch invited ... caressing all my unrequited
so many tears wept as a heart learns to accept.

Ask the rhythmic rain ... how I call out your name
the sound so sweet in resonating sustain.
An emotional refuge ... in devotion's deluge
this love flows through me in reverberating refrain.

Ask the oceans blue ... how I dream of only you
waves of wonder wash over me.
Drawn to your depths ... tides that take away my breath
swept in surrender on seas of serenity.

Ask the evening sun ... as another day is done
you're the whispered prayer I pray.
In dusking twilight ... as the sky gives way to night
I swear on stars above this love is here to stay.

You are my day's begin and end ...
my sun's descent ... my moon's ascend.
Without you the stars turn to dust and are just pretend.
You are my heart's healing amend ...
my inspire's intend ... my rhyme's transcend.

Ask the stars all that I wish for
and they will tell you true ...

Janet Marie

"It's funny how the sun comes when I'm dreaming
It forces me to wake and think of you
I'll bring you a message like the rebirth
You'll give me light to see me through.

And how long will you let true love last forever
And how far can you believe in now or never
There's a light that's trapped behind your eyes
All my life, all my life I've been waiting
To see your spirit rise.

JM,
You leave me breathless and wordless with this field of floral nectar. It is like entering another world. One that I have been seeking. Tempting to the point of dream, if you know what I mean. You always write with your heart so the answer can only be from mine. I would join you there.

Ahhhhh ... now "this" is just heavenly my dear gator-gal!

Absolutely delightful internal and end rhymes, and I loved the fluid motion throughout. The images in this piece are vivid and real ... and you've given the constellations a character unto themselves. I feel like I could peek out the window, and ask some of my own questions. You brought this to life beautifully, my friend. What a lovely way to send me off to sleep tonight ... loved this Janet Marie, just loved it!

Best wishes and hugs,

Oh I love it when you and your muse finally connect in the "want and need department", and if I may say so - it's about time!       This, my dear friend, was well worth the wait, yes indeedy it sure was.  May all these wishes and dreams be yours forever.  Oh, p.s. I loved the rhyme "inside" the poem and I suppose that has a name too right?  hehe - loved this, absolutely, positively loved it Gatorgurlfriend.  I have missed you and your juxtaposies something awful.

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

Ms. Butterfly, it's good to see you posting again, and it was worth the wait, as you never dissapoint and I always find a glimmer of myself in your words.
This is beautiful in it's classic ache, in it's imagery, heart-pour, and in it's internal and ending rhyme.  Yes, I feel- this~  And, it's a keeper.

Take care,
Melissa~

OMG!!!! I had to read it twice and am sitting here in tears.... it is SOOOOO beautiful... and so true.... I could only want to write something as incredible as this and say what you have said here... it was a feeling I knew for the 13 years between my beloved and myself getting back together and getting married.... Every verse, NO, every line sang to me.... and the song was truth... even the unrequited part at the time of not knowing... This is a very moving and beautiful piece...
As far as form, I really enjoyed all the ways you tied your verses together with the juxtaposed rhyming scheme...together and apart.... it fit the entire theme of the piece.

I must say thankyou for writing my heart. I am adding this to my library!!!
Love, Light and Peace,

This is a most beautiful write from your long missed pen.

I have asked all those questions and they keep telling me to go to the arch for answers. They just may sneak up on you.

I can only hope.

Janet

What can I say that hasn't already been said...Usually I'm never at a loss for words but this is simply exquisite writing and has me speechless for a change....So much soul and beauty combined and what a fine texture those two allies are painting from your mind......Excellent dear poet lady just excellent!

This is a beautiful ending...

"You are my day's begin and end ...
my sun's descent ... my moon's ascend.
Without you the stars turn to dust and are just pretend.
You are my heart's healing amend ...
my inspire's intend ... my rhyme's transcend.

Ask the stars all that I wish for
and they will tell you true ..."

However, it's hard to pick out any one verse that's more outstanding than another.....great work!
Bye for now poet pet!

(hey, now that your muse is working again….want to send her over here and teach mine how it’s done??? Mine’s gone on strike and won’t get off her butt for any amount of pleading. Lol)

This is a beautiful presentation... so very well crafted. *S* It flows with a soft rhyming elegance that's as easy on the mind as the graphics are on the eyes. *S* The declarative ending could easily stand alone... but forms a fitting finale. Excellent work.

====================
Hey you......been waiting long enough?  LOL  Okay, so I read this a few times already and last night I
kept asking the stars just as you suggested in your lovely poem, but all they would do was "wink" at
me.  ALL OF 'EM!!  It's as if they were trying to keep it a secret or something, so of course you know
what I did........I went to MY book of insight.........got my answer.........gotta tell ya girlie.........you are
WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!   Jon Bon Jovi??????????  Come on now........well okay, maybe I can give ya that one.

Seriously though;  I love how you laced the entire piece in inner rhyme by splitting your lines with all
those wonderful "...'s"  And then of course your end line rhymes really sing out.  You used some very
cool words (verbage) to convey your points and yes, some of the images and such YOU may say are
cliche' , but the way you wrapped it all together keeps them from sounding that way.

I also loved the way you took us from night to day and to night again using some of my favorite settings
but of course that wasn't a surprise at all now was it?  What I liked most of all however is the totalness
of your aspire to get your feelings across throughout the entire piece.  You left no stone unturned and
you show the devotion to what you KNOW to be true so vividly that no-one could doubt it.  Some of my
favorite lines would have to be..............

By midnight's light ... my heart in flight
Sort of brings to mind, a heart with wings beating outside an open window facing the moon
in hopes of an answer.

Ask the endless skies ... where my heart lies
for the clouds know the promises kept.
Really cool thought here as clouds do tend to wander but maybe that is because they are in
search of the fulfillment to the promises!

Then of course there is this whole verse.........
Ask the evening sun ... as another day is done
you're the whispered prayer I pray.
In dusking twilight ... as the sky gives way to night
I swear on stars above this love is here to stay.
Whispering prayers in calm desires while inside you are about to explode
in the overwhelming want........then "swear" on the stars sort of gives that last bit
of nudge as if to say....ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION? DO YA GET IT?
Very cool sweetness................Loved the entire piece and of course love seeing
your name here finally again.  love ya my bestest of  friends.....your cocoon seems
to have gotten a little bit brighter on the inside and I am loving it.

You are my day's begin and end ...
my sun's descent ... my moon's ascend.
Without you the stars turn to dust and are just pretend.
You are my heart's healing amend ...
my inspire's intend ... my rhyme's transcend.

A transcending rhyme, so true, I have missed your beautiful poetry and your moody muse who is singing beautifully as ever.

Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. - Friedrich W. Nietzsche

JM,
You know how deeply your writing touches my heart. And the wisdom you share has come from so much pain. But now...

Now I know that pain and it shocks me to know that your thoughts can mean even so much more to me than before.

How you move this sad, sad heart with such longing and undying need. Bless you dear friend, always.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry ... what can I say to you...you honor and humble me with your humility and generous spirit. I'd give one of my wishes that you wouldnt understand the pain.
Bless you for allowing my words to touch you...

I remembered this poem.... among all others here it is one of the few on the top of my thoughts and I needed to seek it out again and encourage you that if this particular poem did not make either of the first two books,  Please post it for the third. I will definately cast my vote for it... Looking forward to seeing the "stars" in Reflections.

Thank you Sherry...this is very sweet of you and a wonderful compliment that you share in telling me this one stayed with you.
I am honored and humbled...thanks so much.
I'm still deciding which ones will be submitted..I have some special ones written recently that are near and dear to my heart, but they are on the long side...so this one may be a good back up...its a personal fave as well.
thanks again for the generosity.
