Tired Time

It is a tired time
  stability has become a stranger
that no longer sits at my table

One day is unlike another with no
  pattern but change
Walking into tunnels never knowing
  where they will emerge

In my youth, I would welcome the
mystery and delight in its surprise
but, I am growing weary of the this chapter

Nights that once were a comfort
  lying deep within its folds
Now become a platform from which I
  measure time

Day, years, have eluded me
  to have come so far
and still the insecurity of tomorrow
  is  magnified

To be alone at this stage is ever so
unexpected but, to have had a mate
would not have promised change

So, what is to be
  The unanswered question
Waking up tomorrow
  the first effort to unfold
