Saccharine citizens
Slaves unto the fad
To keep the form slender
Or go completely mad

Dietary consorts
Watch their weight until
They are slim or sticklike
Tired, or gravely ill

Exercising maniacs
Pummel flesh each day
Give in to starvation
To keep the fat at bay

Personally kept trainers
To keep the body slim
While watching the waistline
Till no food enters in

With half the world hungry
A meal from slow death
Saccharine sweet citizens
Fast with each breath

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

How true this is, Keth...
But much of it comes from outside pressure, such as the models in the fashion magazines.
For years, my mother harped on my sister and me about how fat we were...  (I weighed a whole 110 lbs in high school, and was not allowed to have a snack after school because I was too fat)  and it has only been recently that we realize that her whole view of life is so stilted because she rarely goes out and constantly reads those fashion magazines...
No one can look like those models...not even themselves because they are so airbrushed.
Thanks for the wonderful rant.

(sad sigh) Oh Kethry, it is so very terrible, it hurts me to see some be so gluttonous only failing to realize how that extra food could be helping those who need it to survive! (big hugggssssss) This is powerfully aching and true, sweet friend, my heart goes out to all those who are starving, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This fills me with such a mix of emotions... but nothing could keep me from appreciating how well you've written this truth. *S* Great work, Kethry!

Keth darling heart sister and speaker of the worlds truth only you could have written this, truly this is an awesome and amazing piece of writing. You always write well, This is simply exquisite writing, That you are generous of nature, loving and giving of heart, and always willing to extend your hand to help is but a small part of who you are. That you manage to do all these things and still write with such beauty and power leaves me breathless with awe. That you then do so without arousing jealousy is simply indicative of how genuinely loving and giving you are Everyone is aware of how I adore you and your writing, but simply adoring you doesn’t generate the praise you so richly deserve. Darling heart YOU are truly amazing

Darling heart, thank you for this amazing piece, there are those who live this nightmare, they live it daily, they are the families who watch each mouthful their son or daughter consume and hope they will somehow snap out of it. Often their children are silently killing themselves while the family looks on helpless. They hold the secret starvation to themselves unable to reveal to anyone the creed by which they live each moment, that if they eat they will be fat, and they simply can’t hear the truth so the silence covers them.

Truly one of your utter best. I love it and say again YOU are special

Love and warm stuff
As always
Slushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

A very, very fine look at the obsessed. I was expecting a poem about the falsely sweet people in the world. You know, the sickening sweet, knife behind the back ones.

Enjoyed the read as someone who thinks there should be a law against skinny people saying they're too fat or they're on a diet. Of course, then learning about the anorexic, I realize it's all in one's perspective.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
