A Year On Decline

I'm harvesting my thoughts,
this year of my decline
where soon, I must surrender
the heat of my disappointment
and ready myself for the colder hard facts,
leaving behind seasons of happiness,
the honeymoon period, the times of growth,
change, learning to accept one another.

I cling like the leaves on a tree,
not wanting to separate, but knowing
that time has come to release the past,
allow the breeze to capture me in its hold,
swirl me in the brightness of the old,
float me below, allowing me to rest a bit
upon solid ground until the energy returns,
preparing me to fulfill the sequence of my life.

M

nakdthoughts - it's nice to see your thoughts about the future. I know it's been a long time...

You'll be amazed what can happen when you do!

A fine piece of metaphorical poetry. I love it! Very good expression too. *s

A wise mind to pen such heartsore words. I loved it, Maureen. "If you could be a tree..."

Don't you just hate them, those cold hard facts?
Poignant write, Maureen. I'm right there with you.

This is so beautiful, Maureen...and so filled with truth...
I too, hate cold hard facts...
there have been too many of those in my life lately.
