~Winged Perfection~

forever
we chased them
those pretty egrets
their feathered sheen
glinted green like the reeds
echoing paradise

endlessly
they seemed to circle heaven
each evening
before sunset
gleaming their winged perfection
eternally
~

Lyra ~~ I've been offline most of the week due to electrical brown outs, so I'm not sure what the challenge was; however, I loved the poem and the picture is stunning. Egrets are such an unusual bird.

Hugs, Marti

Lyra... Very Nice.
The challenge, we need to have least one "E" in each word.
Enough Enough
The challenge extremely emotional these little e's... Paul

WOW!  Loved the poem but of course I want to know about the birds are they big, where do they come from, where do they go?  I have never seen one, looks like a stork of some kind or is it smaller? LOL, see what you get for being so darn smart?

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

Thanks for your reply, Noah...
There are three "E" challenges.  One in which you have to write a poem with no E's in it...  one in which each word has to begin with an E, and this one, in which there has to be an E somewhere in every word.
Its lots of fun...
Why don't you try them.

I love the birds and I have really been enjoying the E challenges...especially since my muse has been vacationing lately.

Thanks so much, Marti...
Please see my reply to Noah, above where I described the E challenges...
Also you can go to the challenge forum and read it there...
I hope that your brownouts are over now because I have missed you....
Summer is almost over and then we won't have to worry about them for a while....hopefully.
I think Egrets are more common here in Michigan than they are on the east coast.

Thanks Sharon....
There are many different kinds of egrets...but I think the one in the picture was probably a snowy egret.  I've seen several of those around this neck of the woods.
They like to hang out in swamps and reeds.
They are about 2 feet tall, standing...I'm not sure of the wingspan...
and they are related to the herons...
I guess thats all I know about them, so I'm not so smart afterall.
I do know, however....that they don't deliver babies.

Yes they really are magnificent. According to the textbooks, they aren't supposed to live in Michigan, but they are all over the place here.
