This is to commiserate with all of you who have experienced the great "o" score as you fall to the floor. Now, mind you, I've had more comments this past week than in a long time, so I'm not complaining. It's an interesting phenomenon, though, as to how some poems just get 'slid over.' And no matter how many comments I get that are great...I still wonder 'what's wrong' with that 'zero' graded piece. Don't you?

Feeling Playful, Some More, PIP

I’m a zero
not a hero
please don’t compare me
to that Nero

not the fiddler
nor the pianist
I’ve just not got the gist
of what it takes
to stay on top

not a vacuum
nor a mop
not the letters
nor the fetters
to keep from
constant drop

I know
I’m not the only one
that starts at top
and then
in a run
like a waterfall
that’s great
not small

I plunge into
the deep abyss
without a kiss
when a zero I remain
but your pity,
please refrain.

I’m a zero
not a hero
please don’t compare me
to that Nero

(big hugggssssss) Oh Virginia, I know just how you feel, and I'm sorry if sometimes I miss your poems, if I could I would comment to every single poem from everyone I love here but I just miss a little of that time! I comment so very much and sometimes I get diddly-squat and that too frustrates me because I feel I deserve so much more but yet I am proud of what I write as I love your wonderful words! (sigh) This is very honest and heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Very very cute, Virginia...
I think we all have a few of those zeros tucked away...
Lets try to keep this one up north here.

Yeah, Noah, when I wrote the part about the kiss, I definitely thought of you, because when you get in, and you get almost everyone of mine, you always leave a kiss and then I'M NOT a ZERO anymore, because then my score's one or more.

It amazes me how much you comment without getting discouraged, like I do so easily. I also wonder how you can possibly have that much time to spend here. I have way too much time to spend here so I often make myself go away so my house doesn't end up in complete decay...not to mention having everything but my arms and fingers going into atrophy from disuse. You're amazing!

Also, please note the title of this piece, it is done in fun with a touch of reality and I do know that I'm not the only one that gets to be a zero now and then.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Thanks, Madame and Sy for coming in, too. But Sy, not you? Have you ever been a zero? Even for a day? No way! Aren't you a 20+ guy, and I'm not talkin' about age, either. It seems that most of us almost cling to what your keyboard brings.

And Madame, I've not been around alot over the past year, so I don't know how you fare, but it seems you stay right up there. You know what I like about your poetry...it's so enjoyable and your comments are so darling! You have the perfect emoticon, too, for you!

I just need to get back to working, then I won't spend so much time here hoping and moping to get out of the zero zone. hehehehehe

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Virginia...going now to look for your zero...if I find it you won't be one anymore..This was cute.  Replies do mean alot, even one or two, but a zero hurts some.  I enjoy your sense of humor!

I've known the waterfall effect...
but even at the end of the fall,
I still seem to bob along...

enjoyed this, Virginia...

Hi Virginia,
I know the feeling...yes, I do.
I try to get to everyone, to read, and reply but I do believe the problem exists because
there are so many poets posting now
it's very easy for some to slip right down the page very quickly...
Especially if you are writing at the  same time, as reading and commenting.
Myself I write and post for my own enjoyment..
If someone else reads and enjoys enough to comment...
then that's a bonus.
The blessing is all the new friends I have met over the course of a year..
including YOU!

You have said some very important things, Enchantress. I wrote a poem recently discussing with myself why I am the way I am, so dependent on being read.

Writing is a release and a therapy, but I write to be read, too. Anyway, if I weren't so gutless at showing my entire 'face' I'd post that poem, but I don't approve of how I feel, either and that's hard to deal with.

Thanks for your wonderful comments and great example!

Elan, thanks for popping in, too. I love your "bob along" phrase.

I know the feeling all too well, and I've probably whined about it way too often...  but it does seem that some posts get lost in the shuffle.

Please also know as well, that at times I run through the list, looking at many of the poems while eating lunch at work, but not really having time to post to them all, and I'll bet there are many people who also look at your poems who just don't have time to post to them, as with mine as well, I'm sure.  (At least I hope I'm not blow'n smoke on this one).

What I do try to do (as I have been doing tonight) is go back and review the last five days of poems, and if I see something at the end of the list that appears to have been ignored, I will PUSH it up... and I would hope other's would do the same, so all of our poems at least get a good read, if not commented on.

Cheers, and keep writing...

Sheila

VAS - had a few that went to the floor so fast I couldn't find them. Yes, some do go over that waterfall quickly...

Virginia, I do read almost every poem on open and  the discussion  posts and replies..

when I see a zero,  whether I know the poet or not, I try each  time I am on to respond to them so as to give their poem a start..

-Great nakdthoughts! Did you see my other zero poem that I wrote this morning?  I've spent the day "Goin' on a Zero Hunt."

In fact I just saw some before coming in here so am off again on my hunt!  Thanks for coming in and leaving word.

VAS--This was an important piece of writing.
You put into words what so many PIP poets have experienced at one time or another. As you know from my replies, you are a "hero" and never could be a "zero". You are a mentor!

I love your work and I also appreciate the undercurrent of humour in this piece!

Keep on truckin'!---and I'll keep tunin' in!
Be sure, you'll never experience the "z" word again!

BTW---by the wonderful responses you have received thus far, you most definitely have struck a common, strident chord! But then, why wouldn't that be the case?---That's what your writing is all about--truth!

Have a great day!
Talk to you soon!

Virginia - I too get that scarey feeling after writing something...to post or not to post? We all want acceptance and approval. Then I started thinking, if Passions is a family of friends, then what the heck...it's all in fun and if my writings give me a smile of satisfaction, then the time and effort was well worth it. Like the old saying..."you can't please everyone."
Everyone has different levels of talent in here.....but ALL are talented. I will try my best to read and comment on your offerings. Keep smilin' Chris

Virginia, I am not crazy about the idea of this 'responding' stuff because sometimes if feels like a contest of how many responses can any one poem receive

I like to read the poems and then go back and respond once they have settled into my brain. Alas, that's when the trouble begins. I get busy, distracted, forgetful and the response never gets posted. Then I feel terrible.

And, the boards seem to be getting sooo big, that some days I can't keep up. Oh, life is not easy!

Hugs, Marti

What a cute poem!!!

I do know the feeling of having the post that just seems to drop... never had one yet that left the first page without being read at least once though.  It does pay I guess to have friends here that look for you.... And you make friends as you go.  When I was a junior member, of course, the moderators notice ya if you're new...but the membership only takes a notice if they see your name everyday.... too much and they tend to ignore you... too little, and they tend to forget you.. a happy medium is difficult to find..... I have also found that it doesn't seem to matter if you post to many other poets.... Some never do reciprocate... and you have unfortunately left page one before others come back and make the effort to see if you have left them anything to read. I am not so worried about getting a million posts to my poetry as long as a few find it and enjoy what they have read. I don't post everyday because I know my muse needs a day off now and then(I can tell that there are alot of overworked muses out there).  I am just working up to senior member now and I have been her since Febuary.  Some don't take a whole month to accomplish that.  WOW!!! My fingers would be sore
Gotta get back to work now....  This post is obviously not a "0" LOL

Love, Light and Peace,

Sherry
