Between midnight thoughts

Watching, waiting, hoping for your call,
Sitting, wishing, praying, but nothing at all.
Dying, trying, crying, to make it all right.
Lying, self denying, the reality of my plight.
Will love save us,
Will this be the end?
What is there to be saved from?
What but ourselves?
The world has an end,
And even angels die,
And so my sorrows spend,
As they trail silent from my eyes.
Whom shall I depend on?
No hope even in my love,
Your weight on my shoulder,
We grow colder, as time goes on.
Roaming these dark lonely streets,
In an empty nights dew,
Searching for one who can fulfil me,
But I only feel you.
Though you’re not here,
Your silhouette in the trees,
Beckons my tears,
And I tremble in my knees.
Alas I return to that meaningless place,
Swept away in pain as a river,
Staring this meaningless face,
Fixed unrecognizably in the mirror.
Who is he I wonder,
I can’t remember when last I knew,
Now that I consider,
T’was the last time I held you.
That I knew who he was.
And I found myself.
Now that mirror’s just a glass,
And a rose is just a rose,
Now the winter’s in my heart,
Without you, I’m so cold.
Watching each day pass,
As if it was two,
Taking each breath as my last,
Waiting here for you.

Wow, you’ve written this emotion incredibly well. I feel the pain, the angst, the longing throughout it and recognize every one.

Now that is some heavy angst and longing. Well done, poet Gabriel!

Oh the aching sadness that reads right through those words, Gabriel...
You are such an excellent poet... you really know how to make the reader feel.

There is a deep longing in this poem. You expressed it very well. I could feel it with each word and was wrapped within it by the time I was through. A great write.
