Gone Funny

If dishes were fishes
my kitchen would flounder.
If veggies were wedgies
I’d be quite astounder.
If rabbits were habits
I wouldn’t have any.
If honey was money
I’d have me a penny.
But dishes aren’t fishes
and rabbits aren’t habits,
Veggies aren’t wedgies
and honey’s not money.
So I’m an old coot
whose mind has gone funny.

Short Stuff

short things
can be quite fine
especially if
a dinner line

or if a lawn
on hot, hot days,
it keeps the
mowin’ blues away

now if a beard
one’s prone to wonder
but not so with
a roll of thunder

short weeks are fun
you must admit
or if one’s in
a tizzy fit

but I shall take
vacations long
so I can dream
and sing a song

but if the money’s short
my friend
then I guess vacations
must early end.

and so should
this silly verse
for short was it
until ‘twas worse

(smiles) Oh Virginia, I just love this, back up to the top you go where you belong! I think it is just wonderful how you make your style diverse, for the best thing in poetry is to simply have fun, and I just love your sense of humor! Even while it may seem far-fetched and like the worst poetry ever to you, I think it is genius in creativity! (kiss on cheek) These both are fabulous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!
