Calisthenics in the Sun

Calisthenics in the Sun
morning stretches
in the sunlight
edges of morning cool
step aside as the warm
penetrates

cats and I
drink in the sensation
of the stretch
and the warm luster
of the sun
while it is welcome
while it is but a gentle simmer
not a surge toward boil

tiptoeing
through the warm
till one side is toasted
rolling, turning
coating all sides
with a cozy crust

then a slow stroll
toward a shadow
leaving just enough
exposed
that sun can keep its influence
of warm
upon our hearts
