Between the Lines

I've become miserly
a promise I have kept,
to lessen all the bills I have
no credit cards except,
I bought this one from Sams Club,
the store with everything,
a calling card, 1000 of
minutes I can ring.

Its cost was only 3.4
cents per minute's share
I've had it oh...a dozen months
and still have more time there.

So in this heat I wanted cool
a swim I thought would do.
Called my sis-in-law to ask
but ID caused a stew.

She thought because it said a state
of no one that she knew,
cursed I was, and told to never
ring her or she'd sue...

So hard it was for me to burst
into her words without
the laughter, as I tried to think
of how to go about
telling her I wasn't  she,
the one soliciting...
eventually she took a breath
and I began to bring
her down to earth or up from hell,
to take away the sting
of words she need apologize
those towards me she did fling.
But once she learned that it was me,
she blushed and fumbled words.
Next time I told her wait until...
at least someone is heard.

M

She got so worked up..I decided she was the one who needed to cool off...I will stay put. *s

LOL

now you know the real 'her' perhaps

I'm staying with my long distance carrier and so far I've no cell phone

It's 7.9 center/minute but it bills in 6 sec. increments, so it's really cheap. I've done the calling card route with it, too, and it works just great! Glad you got it straightened out with your sis.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

You got me smiling here, I had a friend that went on vacation, and she called using a calling card, and I didn't recognize the place on the caller ID, so I screened the call, lucky she talked instead of hanging up. I enjoyed your poem.

"Next time I told her wait until...

As much as I smiled at this, this part rang so true in all of life, for most times what we say or mean, is never heard. I really liked this...very gentle smile
