My beautiful Dad,
Erik Gunnar Bjornson
29 November 1923 - 30 May 1999

* * * *

You would always take much interest
Whilst watching the nightly news
I would often listen intently
As you expressed your point of view

Many times you felt so passionate
About the stories you would read
You were such a wealth of knowledge
And I learnt much from your lead

You never knew me as a writer
My voice was hidden way back then
But through my grief I found a calling
Exposing my feelings through my pen

I began to find a purpose
As my words began to flow
But my heart was tinged with sadness
For you were never to know

I opened my soul to strangers
Sharing the love I felt for you
'tho my life turned upside down
Thoughts of you would get me through

I wrote about my garden
And shared my love of the sea
Through my ever flowing words
I felt your presence close to me

I'd write of love and romance
And of those in desperate need
Poetry became my main obsession
How my mind would eagerly feed

I've made so many friends
And for them so much I care
I find comfort revealing my feelings
From my heart and soul I share

So, Dad, I hope you see me
And I hope I've made you proud
My life now has more volume
And through my heart my voice is loud

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you
- Shawn Mullins

'... So, Dad, I hope you see me
And I hope I've made you proud...'

Sue hon there is NO question in my mind or anyone else who knows you. Your Dad is your guardian angel, your inspiration and your protector. He is bursting with PRIDE at the accomplishments and writings of his little girl.

Know he is always by your side inspiring you. You are a wonderful and gifted poetess and a woman I am proud to call friend.

Hugs, Marti

You've become a wonderful writer who touches so many with her words. I've sure your father sees, and is beaming with pride.

Sue T.   NEVER doubt that your Dad would be
ever so proud of you....You have a gift,
which touches each of us in ways that only
we understand....

You share a gift with us,  the gift of your
heart and the truth of your feelings through
your words of poetry...

Keep writing,  keep sharing,  and NEVER ever
feel you have to keep proving yourself....
You already have....a long time ago...

So many things I can see in this fine
man's face...how proud he was of you!
He knew you had that voice within, all
along!  It's in the twinkle in his eye!

Sue darling heart your ability to write leaves me gasping with delight, YOU never ever disappoint me I know sure as eggs are eggs that your father looks at you and is as proud as he can be

This is exquisite writing, and thank you for sending me the link I’ve been so busy I’m only dashing into the forums and then I’m off again. Really really excellent writing and you are a daughter to be proud of

This is superb and I love it utterly utterly utterly

Love and warm stuff

Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Sue,
How totally awesome...a pic of your dad! Seems you got his chin and lots more I'm sure. You know how much I love your poetry and I love even more seeing the source of its inspiration.

I know you knew when you were writing this how proud you make him and, I'm sure, always have. Well done. I can't wait until the next one.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Sue, this one brought back some memories, though of my mother, not my dad...still it made me want to see my father who I have not seen in years.
