Inside these halls of me
are a mélange of things
hid from pageantry

Small bottles
Multi-colored, opaque

The liqueur of silence
Bull worthy
of my own notions

Some are message filled
collected
in the drift
of this blue carnival shore

I imagine I might sound
as a million rhinestones
with laughter
All the magic
solidified smooth within

How lovely it feels
when day breaks
across the fragile of me
with you there
glistening within the slivers

I want to take moments
of crystal
and pretend them steel
bringing me flawed
and ready against the mirror

Would you empress me then
with more than one ounce of energy

Enough to shard my shy syllables
into powder
My vial of ladyship
finally
becoming the decantation
of a woman spilled

I am thinking that the essence
of you should never be spilled,
but carried along very carefully,
to be tenderly tipped,
now and then,
and worn gingerly...

This conjured up so many images for me...
antique colored bottles sitting in a sunny window sill casting rainbow reflections...
Grandmas curio cabinet full of carnival glass and cherished treasures.
Perfume atomizer's in all colors and sizes sitting on lace doilies ...
Crystal liquor decanters sparlking in candle light...
This is a wonderful poetic melding of imagery, analogy and metaphor masterfully mixed with the emotional explorations and self discoveries. All your poetic "tie ins"
of references to glass, color, liquid created a lovely dramatic background for the emote. Very effective writing.

The liqueur of silence

and how cool is that line...
More excellence from your gifted pen Poetess Regina..but then we've come to expect that.

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Regina, as I read this, I envisioned a lovely summer carnival with cornhusk dolls and porcelain masks everywhere and there you were, wearing all the essence of a woman like a Mardi Gras mask! (kiss on cheek) This is excellent, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiufl heart, sweet Regina, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

How exquisite and how very YOU this was.  However, I do believe that now I finally have a favorite for glass is my favorite thing (I collect antique perfume and egyptain perfume bottles).  The image of the morning sun (not that I ever see it on the bottles came to mind with this one...

Do I have to tell you what came to mind with this one?  I don't think so!  And have I ever seen it worded this way, never!

Lady!  You are the best there is at images -without a doubt the best!  You honor me with these you know that?  Hey where are my pics LOL.

Regina, I'm stumbling to find the right words to tell you just how profound this poem is, I've read it 3 times already and I can honestly say that this is one of the best free verse poems I've ever read.  This is an exquisite depth of writing, I'm moved and in awe of the emotion and imagery. It's a keeper~

Take care,
Melissa~
