I drink the rain from cups of rock,
sip it down from mountain streams.
Form its clay against my wait.
Taste its warmth upon the trees.

I touch its past upon our graves.
Watch its shadows in cascade.
To drink the rain from off the street
in trembled break of sun's retreat.

Feathers of rain to lips of rain to
fingers of rain to hands of rain to
needles of rain to nails of rain to
hammers of rain to rocks of rain to

Swim on home through the sky.
Swim on home, lash of eye.
Swim on home through the street.
My tender delusion. Swim, defeat.

Sky of rain to bank of rain to
river of rain to stream of rain to
thread of rain to drop of rain to
speck of rain to breath on pane.
