downhill ice
takes the car
from me
to play with
futile uphill others.
my frozen lake mind
too thin to take
the weight
and splinters.
one stays,
calmly skating
through crowd.
one curls around
closed eyes
dreaming of safety.
one joins daughter
in back, caressing
golden hair whispers.
the last?
unclasps hands,
stands,
prayer finished.
he smiles sheepishly
and introduces
himself.

I never aimed at reality; I aimed at truth. --Orson Welles

I think I slipped in a hole in the ice...cuz I just plain got lost.

Of course, I'm hungry right now and I can't think when my stomach's gnawing at me from the inside out.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I dunno -- I picture it as a car sliding onto thin ice while skaters blissfully/ignorantly skate around it, or try to climb an ice hill ... all of them thinking of comfort, but not finding it.

That's my take, anyway. Before coffee, even!

The slip ice slide and crash, perhaps, is just down around it.
Must needs to put in my wood.

Thanks for the 'minder

I think you must have been driving in the winter in Kalamazoo, Michigan...Brian...
Thats what happens here whenever it snows...
The streets are so icy, especially the steep hills, that the cars seem to go downhill without trying...
I know that when I am driving on the ice and my car does that....I do lots of praying...and introducing myself to God...
I especially worry about kids in the back seat....OH MY!!!!!!!!!!
And winter isn't even close yet....
An interesting perspective ......I think.
