I thought of you today.
Funny how I do that
less and less
these days.

Just a vague remembrance
that passed so quickly
I'm not sure it was there
at all.

I recall

a ghostly touch
a fading image
of your face
which soon I'll erase.

Funny how the heart
holds on long after
the mind has relinquished
all memory of love.

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.
