somebody's dungeon

She woke up the next day
at the usual time
after tossing and turning
most of the night.

She put on her robe
then walked down the hall
opened his bedroom door
not remembering it all.

When she saw the bed
was made up and empty
it all came back
the harsh reality.

He was gone now
to a better place
gone but not forgotten
she could still see his face.

She slowly closed the door
as she started to cry
through tears she uttered
just a whisper, "Good-Bye".

How sad, yet it sounds as if she was able to move  forward after saying goodbye.

So very sad, Anne...
I know this feeling well...unfortunately.
A very excellent write.
