The Man in the Moon

From the moment you winked my hello,
I saw the defective condition tag that hung from your eyes,
but, I let you hold all the cards,
and I played the game your way.
I lost myself in the rush, in the hope
that cowboys and knights do exist,
that roses all of a sudden pluck their thorns
and bloom their petals, fragrant truth.

I held your baggage as I carried my own,
I sacrificed, glued your eggshells back together,
and silenced my dreams to die.
I knew it would not last,
yet, I wanted you, and was happily a fool in my misery
in the dare of trying to turn a joker into a prince.

I’ll never understand how a man can make love without the love,
how his lips can cool the heat with a shallow promise,
how he can climb into my breath, and plant his taste with fingertips trace,
then leave me, beneath the man in the moon, sorrow smile,
when I have yet to touch the stars and grant my own wishes.

It would have been easier if I were born without a heart
and skin could weep it’s own scars hardened,
but, then again Cupid would be out of a job
and fate needs a good laugh,
so, I’m the guinea pig, the puppet in question
and love without the hurt, without the strings?
I’ll never know
because I still can’t reach the man in the moon.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Melissa, yes indeed, there is a great reason you have a heart and I know while it may be baffling now you'll soon find out when you reach the moon with your love after the cupid gets a bullseye on it this time around! (kiss on cheek) Your words are as wonderful as always, sweet friend, you are a special friend to us all, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Melissa, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Melissa, You've done it to me again.  You remind me of me when I was about your age.... God Why must it hurt so much and we in the hurting are doubly stubborn in the attempt to love and change the callous heart into a teddybear.... Back to the waterbottle and the body pillow... Keep reaching... your arms will grow to be within grasp of "charming" or "warming" I adore the way you write, girl!!!  Just remember, most of us have to kiss a pond full of warts before we find wonderful.
Else  The Wind Changes These two sound like you.
Love, Light and Peace,

Oh girlfriend, you have no idea..or actually, I think you do.
This line
"yet, I wanted you, and was happily a fool in my misery
in the dare of trying to turn a joker into a prince."
How truly do we do this, over and over in my case. You still have time to find the right one, though.
Incredible, magical longing write.

I love the whole poem, it incredible These two lines especially grabbed me. I like the image here and the phrase "fragrant truth". Very nicely done.

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.

Melissa,
You have spun a spiders web of sad, but don't feel bad You brought your sheers and have cut away the fears. And now you are free

This is simply lovely. Sad with a slight smile it seems.

Love is patient, indeed. It endures the distance when it seems we cannot endure it ourselves.
