TEXAS (it's all big)

In a silver contraption,
cold ice clinks
a box
a bladder
white wine… Chablis
Chablis drawn slowly…
Chablis breathed softly… Chablis
as divinity, drawn from a spigot.
Sticky, hot,
on second thought-
extended room-
boy lays
wide-eyes, staring.
Hears mom curse
dad-giggle-glass-clinks
off-key-laughter-rift demurs

Screaming-Tearing-Biting-Gnashing Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

Across his head,
keys jingle,
tune is scratched,
mother cries,
and a Pirouette.
Hoarse repetition -
Pounding, Throbbing -
boy sees shadows across his room.
Pantomime, no want, no why
doesn’t baby awake and cry?
Around the block
the headlights whirl
and back again the little girl,
ruddy rosed, decomposed,
at first a clink and now some ice.
For second glass of life off key,
take a sip. Take a nip! Chablis! Chablis!
