In the winds of Cherokee song

Rainbowed ... amethyst crests
tiptoe to stretch;
curling in tumble
over captured reflections
in jeweled indulgence
of solar play

to color the mighty din
take the drum
then fold it into a coming storm
wrap it in early morning sheets
of passions play
the color will be cacophony

where painted bolts
dance
between clash of applause
in throes
of unyielding quench
savored
in dawn of lips bliss

I have seen the melt of  shore
lapped again and then again in fold
like time battered glass
sanded into something else
picked up by child in barefoot cruise
and rubbed into a smooth

I have laced fingers
to white diamond sift
creating stand alone towers
in family embrace of moat
only to hear sizzle of melting fantasies
~ captured  ~
in surge of time cried tides
between salted assaults
upon these shores

~question~

If we could embrace the length of ocean
and reap the wise of moving earth that tide displays
would we regret the fall from steady rock
where we can witness sky and sea touch

smiling...no regrets. Say it isn't so.

Not just a duet, but a shared dance of poetic ballet.

Earnest with questions, and haunting in honest urgency. and written with mastery of delicate undertones that overlap--a layering that results in power. Sort of like--DEGAS!

In this stanza I can see the picture unfold in front of me.  The delight of a child finding this treasure.
If we could embrace the length of ocean
and reap the wise of moving earth that tide displays
would we regret the fall from steady rock
where we can witness sky and sea touch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And then the question, which I believe has
no right or wrong answer but is something
that is felt inside  and can only be answered by each individual.
Very well done to both of you!!
Good morning.
You two dont play fair...hows a moth in waiting supposed to be patient until I get to feel the surge like this -- you write it so that it calls to me..The mix of imagery, personification and phrasing in this creates a landscape painting that one can smell the salt and feel the warm sand beneath their feet..hear the crash of the waves. So many cool images and analogies here...
the melt of shore
lapped in fold
time battered glass
white diamond sift
time cried tides
salted assaults
You have taken the images of the ocean and encompassed it with the wisdom of nature's powers and added the respect and awe of witnessing such beauty, to reminding us that we should never take any of it or life's moments for granted.
Another gem of pen from the meeting of two of our most gifted minds.
My moth eyes are always grateful for the view thru both of you.
If all the tear drops went to heaven
And if all the pain was confined ...
Would I be your salvation
could I make your spirit shine.
Lyra-your furry little hugs are always a treat to any of us and I thank you dearly.
Liz-Believe me....the great respect and awe is a two way street when it comes to you.  You are amazing all by yourself just as is the talent of Martie whom I consider it nothing short of an honor to write with.  Thanks so much.
vandana-I am glad you enjoyed and thank you kindly.
Noah-Oh she is the spark of the team when we duet in poetry...I only try to hold on to the words and learn.  Thank you very much kink sir.  It is appreciated.
Marge-It isn't easy doing the feely touchy thing with water and sand without letting it seep out but all one can do is capture as many moments as possible and share what you see in your heart's eye.  Thank you dearly for continued strength and knowledge.
JM-Play fair???  Why on earth would you say something like that.  Oh....did I mention.........the pod of around 40 dolphins at dawn and the return trip in the evening....EVERY NIGHT......of course ONLY until the water temp changes too much....and all JUST 7 MINUTES AWAY from where YOU will be in a few weeks.  Then there is the taste of sea salt on your lips, the cool ocean breeze tickling the eyelashes, the warmth of the water in the evening and the coolness of it during the blazing day...not to mention all the silver sides you can catch in your hands just by standing in the surf.  Want me to go on? ROFL.......play fair.......of course we do.  We love ya too much not to.  Thanks sweetness, you know your thoughts always are a treasure to everyone and me in particular especially when I have the talents of our Free-verse Queen to back me up.
Martie-Once again, thank you for the honor and for taking the memory walks with me once again.  Who knew that one brush on a pier would lead to poetic meetings across distant shores to bring them both hand in hand in unison.  Your eyes of thought and your ever loving friendship is one that shall be carried with me to the arms of eternity in nothing less than smiles.
I don't think I've ever been quite so grateful that an email didn't go through... for the impressions written on my first view of the ocean dissolve to amateurish putty in comparison with the work of art the two of you have created. *S* This is beautiful. *S*
mycafe-I am glad you found it beautiful.  Thanks for the precious and the comments.  Much apprecitated.
Ruth-I have a hard time placing your name with anything amateurish but there is many thanks coming your way for your kindness.  As for the email.......I have to admit....I am at a loss.  Thanks for the visit and the kind words.  You are much appreciated.
Donna-Thank you for the bump and thinking it was so good.  I would have to give that credit to Ms Martie as I only tried to keep up with her wonderous muse.
I guess the ocean is on a lot of minds. *S* I'd thought of your upcoming meeting and how fortunate you'll be to bear witness when someone as sensitive to nature's wonders as JM first meets the sea. *S* And I'd found the free verse I'd written upon my first view of the ocean as I was going through some papers... so I sent it on. Believe me, it WAS amateurish... it was written almost 30 years ago. *G* But I used your old email addy... so you were spared. *G* Be grateful! LOL
Again, you and Martie work well together... and I hope you and JM have a great time.
