I sipped the marmalade of your eyes
when you said smile words
voiceless in long coats

when you were the dragonfly
I was a waterfall on the other side
where trees were immortal

we swam in our desire pool
it didn't have a shallow end
and we never wanted to touch bottom

I remember praying for winter
so it would be ice cream cold
and you would pray for my hands

to cover you like warm toast sides

to cover you like warm toast sides--

*ahem*

you wouldn't be trying to tempt me to breakfast, wouldja?

That line alone, holds all the warmth and comfort of being held--and yessir, y'did yer job--smile--I'm shivering here, wondering why I'm NOT!!!

g'morning gorgeous.

Warming up the mornings in poetic gift Mr. D. I love how this means so much to the soft sides of sweet. The deep sides of longing. Always a keeper.

Sincerely,
Reg

The imagery and theme behind this is fantastic.  I don't know how you do it time and time again, but every poem penned by you is a cut above the rest.
