This old hand has touched
The face of a newborn child
The spine of an ancient Bible
And the wing of a bird in wild

The blood that flows within
From heart to hand is free
This old hand is proof that
There’s still life left in me

and the blood flows in memory of glorious joy and astounding peace, of course there is life in you and it shows.

Oh my, writers block. A dark time for a poet. This is lovely verse. Seems you are on the road to writing again.

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.

I recognize your name.

I will always remember your poetry.

This is a pencil-porcelain sketch in values of light and dark---with word...

I could smell talcum, and feel the soft, soft press of my grandmother's hand on my cheek--in understanding.

Sometimes? Soft is powerful. I hope to learn that from you.

In one lovely verse you encompassed a life's cycle. Using the words "spine and ancient" in that line was poetic perfection...gave the poem its antique lace quality.
Good to see you posting again.

And if all the pain was confined ...
Would I be your salvation
could I make your spirit shine.

I like this juxtaposition of the old hand on the newborn’s face. And the truth of the last line…as long as we’re here…we still have something to give…someone to be.
