Two people born the sons of man
Given problems for their span
With bricks and mortar both have toiled
One builds a bridge, one builds a wall

Brick by brick the structures flow
One to reach out, learn how to grow
The other hides away from all
Begins a tower from bricks of wall

One overcomes each day of wrath
And learns to walk the prayerful path
The other shields from life of fall
Hidden there in tower tall

One isolated in despair
With bricks and mortar for repair
One hides away and one stands tall
In choices made of bridge or wall

Then comes the day when life will end
The bridge builder, held up by friends
The one alone will hear deaths call
Alone, uncherished behind the wall

For each of us is given a choice
Build a bridge to speak our voice
Or hide away from one and all
Bar the windows seal the wall

Live our lives alone, untried
Behind the wall no tears have dried
The choice is yours to rise or fall
What will you build? -  a bridge or wall

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth,

Such a perspective...

At times,  that wall was so tall that it
could not be scaled without help.  Learning
to accept that help requires more strength
than the wall itself...

But...a wall can be scaled and torn down
to become a bridge...with faith, courage
and most of all,  self belief and support.

You have penned these two sides of life
very very well....I sense a degree of
personal knowledge of this wall and this
bridge..  Just as I have my own experience.

A beautiful lesson on this quiet
Sunday morning...

it would seem that by God's design,
siblings will never grow to think alike...
but the similiarities that will always
reside underneath are forever there...

and blood will remain, always thick...

an excellent poem, Kethry.  Thank you!

Keth beloved sister of my heart and painter with the moons light, this is exquisite. The truths, which you write seemingly effortlessly, are universal, and truths that we all instinctively know to be right. But you write them in such a way that they become blindingly obvious, the wisdom and the grace with which you fill your poems is breathtaking, it takes the truth moulds it into a concept, a well thought out idea and presents it as the answer to which souls seek. That you could do this once would be wonderful that you continue to shine a light into the murky depths of a heart is nothing short of a miracle. Because of you there are souls that had lived in darkness and now see light, because of your words, confused and sorrowing souls will now understand that in giving they are saved. Is it any wonder that I proclaim your writing special? Is it a surprise that I say you are truly a WRITER? No it is not darling heart, because you are and I simply reflect the opinion of the masses. If I am biased, and I know I am, I probably am harder on your writing than any other. I know it’s going to be good, I expect it will knock me out, so when it consistently shines clear and bright I give praise where it is due. This is superb writing, the flow the meter the structure are all exquisite, and as for the content darling heart it is simply perfect. Do I LOVE it, I think the answer would have to be yes. I LOVE IT UTTERLT UTTERLY UTTERLY.

I wub you

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Wonderful Keth, I loved reading it aloud...
the rhyming and rhythm were perfect..and although I tend to build a wall at times, I leave it low enough to scale over it to  walk towards that bridge.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kethry, this is so very true, sweet friend, it is true that walls can protect us from other pain but then we only suffer from our own pain if we incarcerate ourselves, whereas if we cross that great divide of life and build bridges we can always take what we can from our dreams! (sigh) This is excellent wisdom, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Hello Lynne

Your words were so very powerful and spoke volumes to me, as well as others, I'm sure.
This is the second powerful poem of yours I have read over the last couple of days and has left such a big impression on me.  Thank you for your words of wisdom and for sharing your extraordinary warm heart with us.

Take care.....Sue

Yanno... there is no question in my mind but that someday (may it come soon *S*), some of the poets that bless these blue pages are going to be appreciated by the masses... and when your time comes, I'm going to be proud to say "I knew her when." *S*

This is superb, Kethry... you've penned a proverb we should all ponder... and you've done so with poetic perfection. *S*
